Anne C Ruoff Obituary

Anne (Anna) Catherine Ruoff was born to Molly and Henry Ruoff on December 12, 1924. She attended St. Leonard’s R.C. Grammar School in Bushwick and St. Joseph’s Commercial High School in downtown Brooklyn. Her first job was as a secretary at Todd Shipyards where she worked during World War II.

After the war Anna found work at Marquardt & Co., a distributor of fine papers located on Spring Street in Manhattan. She worked there for 20 years until the company was sold. Her next job was with the City of New York in the Department of General Services, Division of Real Property. She worked there for 14 years and retired in 1994.

For over 40 years Anne was associated with the Mary Manning Walsh Home. For decades she was an active volunteer, worked at the reception desk, and finally became a resident of the facility. As a 101-year-old she was still active as a volunteer in the Mary Manning gift shop. She was a loyal member of the Carroll Club, the Cardinal Cooke Guild and the Ladies of Charity.

Anne was predeceased by her sister, Mary Remch, and is survived by two nephews, Peter Remch and Henry Remch, and three nieces, Patricia Remch, Geraldine (Gerri) Shea, and Mary Youkon. Anne loved her many grandnieces and grandnephews, and her numerous Godchildren.

The wake will be held at the Gannon Funeral Home on Thursday January 29 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm. Funeral will take place at the Church of the Epiphany (corner of 2nd avenue and 22nd Street) on Friday January 30 at 10:00am Interment St. John’s Cemetery, Middle Village, N.Y.
