Obituary of Harold Murray

Please share a memory of Harold to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Harry was born in Brooklyn, NY to Elizabeth and Harold Murray Sr., on April 29, 1943. He attended Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School, Manhattan College, and Columbia Business School.  After serving as a Captain in the U.S. States Army, he began a long career in real estate and finance and made many friends along the way. He married Kathleen Quinn in 1966.  Three big loves in Harry’s life were family, fishing, and a good party.

He was a lifelong and passionate New Yorker who enjoyed all the city had to offer.  He was frequently spotted on his bike, the paddle courts, and all of the City’s best cultural and dining institutions in the sharpest of outfits.  To complement his metropolitan tendencies, he was also an avid outdoorsman with astounding nautical expertise; a true Man of the Sea with countless voyages logged across all of the North East’s seaways.

Harry is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen, his son Andrew Murray (Emily), his daughter Sarah Bernhardt (Sandy), and his grandchildren Timmy & Courtney Bernhardt, Blair & Brendan Murray.

He is survived by his in-laws Kevin & Michele Quinn, Kieran & Donna Quinn, and Kerry Quinn Stumpf as well as all their children Christine Antal (Mark), Deirdre Ferrario (Ambrogio), Erin Martin (Chris), Kerry Granfield (Patrick), Kaitlyn Stumpf, and Mark Patrick Stumpf (Meghan).

Harry’s life was enriched by the loving and attentive care of his sister-in-law, Kerry, for over fifty years.  During his final months, her care was nothing short of heroic in nature and to whom we all owe our deepest gratitude.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School, Brooklyn, New York.
