After obtaining a BCE from Manhattan College and an MSCE from NYU, John served as a civil engineer, primarily for the US Corps of Engineers, for nearly a decade. He then received a Juris Doctor from St. John's University, and launched a diverse career as an international arbitrator, mediator, lawyer, and law professor. John served as a neutral on such projects as the "Big Dig" in Boston, the Dublin Port Tunnel, Wembley Stadium in London, and the Jumbo Ferry project in Puget Sound, Washington. He was admitted to practice before the US Supreme Court, US Patent and Trademark Office, US District Courts, New York and New Jersey Bars, and was a member of the Law Societies of Ireland and of England and Wales.
