Hello, my name is Lindsay Birch, and I had the privilege of knowing Didi through her organization, Didi Art Angels. I’m not sure if Didi ever had much free time, but even in her busy life, she always made space to connect with people, sharing her incredible creative spirit.
I met Didi back in 2010. At that time, I had been in New York City for two years, juggling life with a new baby, and working in Corporate America. While building a career, I’d set aside my passion for art, caught between making a living and the desire to create. I needed a creative outlet and wanted to direct my efforts toward something meaningful, so I did a quick Google search, not able to remember the search terms I used. That’s when I found Didi Art Angels.
When I met Didi for the first time, I brought my new baby and some of my work to her New York City apartment (see the pictures from that day!). She welcomed me with open arms, inviting me to join her wonderful team of artists. For several years, we worked together on projects, and Didi gave me a place of peace and belonging amid the chaos of being a new mother and working a demanding job.
Didi was a source of warmth, always encouraging, kind, and loving. She guided me not only as an artist but as a mentor and a friend. In a world full of rushing routines, Didi was always present, always there for the moments that truly mattered. Her calm, caring, and selfless nature inspired me deeply, and I feel so grateful to have known her.
Thank you, Didi, for everything—for taking me in, for your guidance, and for being my mentor, guardian angel, and friend. I am incredibly lucky to have known such a beautiful soul.
