Obituary of Rita Molloy
Rita Molloy of Manhattan, died July 30th at Mount Sinai Hospital after a short illness courageously borne.
Rita is survived by her husband Conor, and her sisters, Margarida and Maria of Cataguases, and Marlene in Philadelphia, and by her nieces and nephews.
Born in Cataguases, Minas Gerais, Brazil, Rita was predeceased by her mother Maria Aparecida de Souza and her father Antonio Marcelino de Souza. She came to America in 1980, where she met Conor, her husband of thirty two years, and lived in Manhattan ever since.
Rita is sadly missed by her brothers and sister-in-law and their families, in Ireland, Brazil, and Philadelphia.
Her hospitality to visitors to New York from Brazil and Ireland was legendary. She will be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews who valued her warm and friendly welcome, and of course the wonderful meals she cooked for them.
Rita will be most deeply and sadly missed by her loving husband, Conor, for whom she was a constant support.
