My deepest sympathy for your loss. May you find comfort in Jehovah God’s promise to soon end all our suffering and swallow up death forever (Rea. 21:3-5; Isa. 25:8). Peace to you during this difficult time.

Dear family and loved ones, I was sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Fortunato. Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. It has helped me and many others to know that the Bible promises that soon God “will swallow up death forever” (Isaiah 25:8) and that He will bring about a resurrection of our dear loved ones (John 5 : 28, 29) . May “the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort,” comfort you during your time of sadness (2 Corinthians 1: 3).

We are Rico’s aunt and uncle. Emil is Rico’s father’s brother. We remember when he was born and watched him grow into a fine young man. He was always so bright and full of smiles. We loved talking with him at family gatherings. He patiently would explain religious concepts to us. We will miss him. We are sorry we cannot attend the services for Rico. My husband is 97 and I am almost 94. God bless him.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Rico for almost 20 years. It was a professional relationship(we do the Pest Control Services) but I always found him to be kind and patient. He always seemed to be in a good mood. Always had a little smile (more of a grin) as he led me around the building. Even though he was my direct boss he never made me wait too long, was very respectful of my time and was super efficient. My techs reported the same thing, they enjoyed working for him. He had a certain peace about him. I am sad to hear that he passed. I believe that his faith carried him through during his fight against cancer. He never mentioned that he had all those degrees or how qualified (maybe overqualified) he was to do what he was doing. That certainly shows a very high level of humility and commitment. Rare these days. He will be missed. My condolences to his family and close friends.

Rico is my first cousin and ten years older so while we both grew up in Asbury Park, I got to know him much better in Washington DC area in 1976 where I lived for 6 months. I visited him many times at the Heights in DC. From 1986 to 1989 we resumed our meetings while I worked in San Francisco, CA. However since we lived in Novato, CA during those years, we were able to host Rico on his many trips to Novato to plan and supervise the restoration of the historic Trumbull Mansion into a beautiful Opus Dei retreat center. His personal example of how to live and pray has been a great inspiration to me and for which I am eternally grateful. Rest in peace.
